Fans of Gravity Falls are hoping for the return of their favorite animated series, possibly for a final season. However, the chances of Season 3 seem very slim.
What the creators are saying?
According to hitc.com, the creators had always planned to end Gravity Falls after the Season 2 finale. There was never any real uncertainty about a third season.
Alex Hirsch, one of the creators, confirmed this on Tumblr. He stated, “The first thing to know is that the show isn’t being canceled—it’s being finished. This is 100% my choice, and it’s something I decided on a very long time ago. I always designed Gravity Falls to be a finite series about one epic summer—a series with a beginning, middle, and end.”
Interestingly, Alex Hirsch later mentioned he was open to revisiting the series, but only for spinoff episodes, not a full third season.
That’s quite a turnaround, isn’t it?
Considering the time that has passed since these statements, the likelihood of Gravity Falls returning for a third season seems nearly impossible, at least by our estimation.
